MENOMENA - "Wet And Rusting"
OK, this is one of my Favorite Videos Of All Time. Watch it.
I really like all parts of this video, and I dig the song. What else is there? (Notice that there is obviously some old typewriter collector. Who knew?)

THE STILLS - "Helicopter"
I like this one for some reason... maybe the plot of the vid is better than the song, eh?
Better .mov version. I dunno, maybe it was the "grifters in the mall setting" thing that I liked, as I have spent an inordinate amount of time in malls in my life, from hanging out as a teenager, to working in malls.

M.I.A. - "Galang"
I love the unfamiliar rhythms (to me) that Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam weaves through her songs... there's so much neat stuff around the world that I've never heard.

SUPERCAR - "Be"
Highly disturbing, yet equally compelling:
Here's the translations for the subtitles:
The father to whom he owed so much The mother to whom he owed so much The sister to whom he owed so much The grandfather to whom he owed so much The grandmother to whom he owed so much Friend Friend's friend Friend's friend's friend Boss High school teacher Neighborhood convenience store worker Woman at company cafeteria Waitress from family restaurant he went to Nurse from hospital he visited First love Taxi driver from yesterday Foreigner who asked directions earlier Girl he did one time Guy who did him one time Couple who just happened by J-Leaguer Pet turtle The alien to whom he owed so much The porn actress to whom he owed so much Supercar that just happened by Wife

SCISSOR SISTERS - "I Don't Feel Like Dancing"
I really hate Disco, having had to listen to it incessantly via my siblings from the early '70s funk on through the Bee Gees Dominance Era of the late '70s... but these guys just hit it right freaking ON.

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM - "North American Scum"
Another great video from a band who is working their way into my "favorites" list. I like most of what I hear from them and their videos are entertaining. You'll be seeing more from them in the future...
oh i don't know, i don't know, oh, where to begin we are north americans and for those of you who still think we're from england we're not, no.

IGGY POP and DEBBIE HARRY - "Well Did You Evah?"
OK, this is one of my favorite videos... two great artists acting out an end-of-the-world scenario... a true classic, directed by Alex Cox (REPO MAN). Plus RHODAN! Watch this extended clip to see Sinatra and Der Bingle singing their version...
Reminds me of TONES ON TAIL. In a good way, not a derivative way. The song falls apart a bit at the end, which doesn't ruin it for me, but I'd like to edit my own version of it...

EMILY HAINES and the SOFT SKELETON - "Doctor Blind"
I find this one very fascinating... I had never heard of Emily Haines before this song, but I have since discovered she is in the band METRIC. More about them later. HERE'S the link to a big nice version of this video. Great song, great video.

GNARLY BARKLEY - "Crazy"
I have it on good word that the things he says in the song are pretty close to accurate, at least for one person I know who's "been there"... A classic video, but every one of my sources has it taken down, or the embedding is disabled... guess the record company is protecting its assets.
