IGGY POP & DINAH SHORE - Just chat

I remember watching the DINAH SHORE show when I was a child, along with Graham Kerr, Merv Griffin, David Frost and others... but I don't remember seeing this:

It's fairly gentle and human... it's from when talk show hosts didn't pander or plug.

Oh and Bowie's there too. Man, what a time and place.

DAVID BYRNE/TALKING HEADS - "Dream Operator", from the movie TRUE STORIES

I really love this movie, and this scene is pretty amazing:

Oh, and I think that actress singing was in ANIMAL HOUSE, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

ROBOCOP KRAUS - "In Fact You're Just Fiction"

A favorite band:

I discovered them early in my explorations, and I keep going back to them... great sound.

TONES ON TAIL - "Twist"

My favorite Tones On Tail song ever... it still takes me back to the good times at the beach, when everything was weird with possibilities blossoming everywhere:

That, and we could dance with it.

This is the best video of this song I could find, but just crank` the music. When I do that, I see my friends and I cruising the beach in the Red Shark in 1985...

TONES ON TAIL - "War"

Man, I wish they had made videos for this band's songs...

You're given two sets of clues
With the answers both the same
And a two speed crossword called
Love in the Suds
Your bullet holes are screaming
Wearing shoes you should be seen in
With a brave knife and fork
We're all set to go blind
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Your thought for the week in the
river river river
Feeling something like a crow
Flying round with the planes
And the fish down under coming up
with rust inside
And your summer days were spent
Collecting soap opera stories
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Saved by the music makers
Speedboats to freedom
With the beautiful people
Bullet holes in your head
But you're running out of time
And you're running out of freedom
Now the animal crackers
Are all set to go flying
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Here comes trouble - Comes trouble
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble

TONES ON TAIL - "GO!"

Too much spanking, but there's no video for this song:

One of the greatest dance songs evar.

Labels: ,

TONES ON TAIL - "Rain"

Tones On Tail is quite possibly my third or fourth favorite band, yet they never really did music videos. It's hard to find something visual to go with their music, but this one might just be a good one:

It's hard to crush this feeling
Writing very long letters as soon as it rains
