IGGY POP - "Repo Man"

This is the themesong of my mid-1980s:

Page out of a comic book.
A chicken hanging on a hook.
A river and a babbling brook.
A sermon
and a teenage hook.
Shaking my hand at your fake face.
A suicide a certain look.

A microphone a loose guitar.
People feeling near and far.
Stupidity a mental scar.
Put cruel into cruelty.
As life goes by you in a blurr.

An achoholic has gone far.
Everything just goes to far.

Indeed.

P.I.L. - "Rise"

I can't believe I never posted this here:

I could be wrong.I could be right.
I could be wrong.

I could be wrong, I could be right,
I could be black, I could be white,
I could be right, I could be wrong,
I could be white, I could be black.

Your time has come, your second skin.
You climb so high and gain so low.
Walk through the valley.
The written word is a lie.

May the road rise with you.

I could be wrong.I could be right.
I could be wrong.I could be right.

I could be wrong, I could be right,
I could be black, I could be white,
I could be right, I could be wrong,
I could be black, I could be white.

They put a hotwire to my head
'cuz of the things I did and said.
They made these feelings go away,
but those feelings get in every way.

May the road rise with you.

Anger is an energy.

May the road rise with you.

Anger is an energy.

I've always like the lyric. And anger is definitely an energy. "Let fury have the hour, anger can be power, do you know that you can use it?"

Indeed.

My Sharona

Monday, February 9, 2009

This hangs above my bar

It's a paper plate from THE CRAMPS's backstage buffet from back when they played Hammerjack's in Baltimore, or perhaps the 9:30 Club in DC in about 1990... either way, I wasn't there, as my pal Erik Dorr (who owned York's SOUND BIZARRE record store) had backstage passes that I missed out on because I was heading to Florida on vacation. I really regret that, but I'm glad that Erik was such a pal that he had the band members sign this paper plate to me, and I've treasured it ever since...

Now I'm gonna go drink a big fucking juiceglass of scotch in memory of Lux. Stay sick.

TONES ON TAIL - "Twist"

My favorite Tones On Tail song ever... it still takes me back to the good times at the beach, when everything was weird with possibilities blossoming everywhere:

That, and we could dance with it.

This is the best video of this song I could find, but just crank` the music. When I do that, I see my friends and I cruising the beach in the Red Shark in 1985...

Labels: ,

TONES ON TAIL - "War"

Man, I wish they had made videos for this band's songs...

You're given two sets of clues
With the answers both the same
And a two speed crossword called
Love in the Suds
Your bullet holes are screaming
Wearing shoes you should be seen in
With a brave knife and fork
We're all set to go blind
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Your thought for the week in the
river river river
Feeling something like a crow
Flying round with the planes
And the fish down under coming up
with rust inside
And your summer days were spent
Collecting soap opera stories
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Saved by the music makers
Speedboats to freedom
With the beautiful people
Bullet holes in your head
But you're running out of time
And you're running out of freedom
Now the animal crackers
Are all set to go flying
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
Here comes trouble - Comes trouble
Comes trouble - Here comes trouble
