BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE - "Rush"

And of all my friends, you've been the best to me:

I miss this car:

And I miss seeing this dashboard:

And I miss not being able to reach the passenger door without laying flat on the bench seat.

My old pal Jeremy sent this blast from the past:

This hangs above my bar

It's a paper plate from THE CRAMPS's backstage buffet from back when they played Hammerjack's in Baltimore, or perhaps the 9:30 Club in DC in about 1990... either way, I wasn't there, as my pal Erik Dorr (who owned York's SOUND BIZARRE record store) had backstage passes that I missed out on because I was heading to Florida on vacation. I really regret that, but I'm glad that Erik was such a pal that he had the band members sign this paper plate to me, and I've treasured it ever since...

Now I'm gonna go drink a big fucking juiceglass of scotch in memory of Lux. Stay sick.

PULP - "Mile End"

Speaking of Pulp:

Very Bowie, very lost.

Here's just the song:

I guess you have to go right down
before you understand just how, how low,
how low a human being can go.

Turn it the fuck up, loud-like.

DAVID BOWIE & NINE INCH NAILS - "I'm Afraid Of Americans"

A perennial favorite:

That last part is cool in how it breaks out of the first 9/10ths of the song and sorta drives the point home... I wonder if Bowie or Reznor wrote that part.

WEEZER - "Buddy Holly"

And just for old time's sake, there's this classic:

"Weezer was filmed in front a live audience."

NICK CAVE - "Stagger Lee"

This is one of the most frighteningly grim songs I have ever heard, and his album "Murder Ballads" is chock full of grim weirdness:

HOLY SHIT, THAT'S IT FOR ME, NO MORE DRUNKEN NIGHTS AT SOME FUCKING ROADHOUSE.
